Choosing your Softening System

Choosing the size of the Water Softening system is very important. As with a car engine, larger than you need is better. You can always email or call us, and we will discuss all of your needs.

Here are a few tips...

•  A timer initiated system regenerates when you program it to on a regular basis. For example, every day or every third day and timer initiated systems have less parts to break than a metered unit.
   
•  A metered system is set to regenerate based on the gallons of water that is used, which means it will not regenerate as often with low water usage or if you are on vacation. A metered system uses less salt than a timer initiated system during normal use, but uses more salt when you use more water.
   
•  Well water requires a minimum 30K grain unit regardless of how little the water usage might be.
   
•  A dual tank metered unit is better for commercial and heavy duty residential applications.

Except for specific circumstances that call for the use of a metered system, we generally recommend timer initiated systems. They tend to be the most trouble free and easily maintained systems for general use.
